Revisiting Old Work

Design is a constantly growing and evolving field, if you want to stay relevant, you have to grow and learn. I recently revisited an old project, to see what I could improve upon. Now, this project won an award, but does this mean it can’t be improved or tweaked?

There is always room for improvement and growing.

Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow.

Above is the before and after for the Delaplaine website mockups I’ve made. The competition was to brand the Delaplaine, with that being said we focused more on the overall identity and collateral than the website design. It isn’t awful, but there is a lot of room for improvement.

Usability is key; you want your visitor to understand what the site is, why it’s important to them, and where to go from the home page.

There is about 18 months of progress and learning between the two designs, just to give you guys an idea of what I’ve learned about UI design in that time frame.

Even you think the design is great, always take a look back and see what could be done better.
